This is my 1/48 Hasegawa F/A-18A A21-23 Hornet in the colorful “Worimi” scheme, 2016. This Hornet was painted like this in memory of WOFF L.V Waters 1942-1946.  WOFF Len Waters was the first Aboriginal fighter pilot to serve in the R..A.A.F during World War II who flew P-40 Kittyhawks in the South West Pacific Theatre where he completed 95 missions, mainly close air support. By the end of the war he had risen to the rank of Warrant Officer.  The name “Worimi” is the name of the traditional owners of the Port Stephens area and home of R.A.A.F Base Williamtown, which is where this aircraft is based.
I made the base using my daughters hand drawn onto a piece of MDF and glued Paperbark tree bark to the top surface.  I used paint colors that can be seen in the markings of the F/A-18A.  I painted the plane using Gunze paints which performed nicely, and used Ronin Graphic Decals that  went down nicely.
