Under New Management

Postby Michael Louey » Wed Apr 10, 2019 10:29 pm

Hi,

Recently finished a S Model Kubelwagen to represent one of the number of vehicles captured by the RAAF in the Desert Campaign.
This one was used by 3 Squadron RAAF and pictures at the AWM site show it used by the armourers in this squadron.

The kit is pretty nice and is probably the best 1/72 Kubelwagen on the market. It comes in a doublepack and includes etch. I added a transparency the windscreen and a plastic rod for the gear shift. The only other addition is a Fine Molds Nano Browning 0.5 inch MG to pay tribute to the armourers who were maintaining these for the Kittyhawks in the photos.

The red brown camouflage was done with a cut down brush and pastels as I can't reproduce the effect with an air brush.

And a picture with a big friend - Bobby Gibbes 109G-2 3 Squadron RAAF

Cheers
