Twin Tub low-vis 75 Sqn Mirage A3-108 - Finished!

Postby AndrewDoppel » Mon Mar 25, 2013 8:30 pm

You may remember before the 'Big Crash' I was working on a 1/48 Heller Mirage IIID/Red Roo Conversion, well here is its latest progression. It has been micro meshed to a smooth surface and had two coats of Pledge One-Go applied giving it a nice glossy surface. The only thing I wish I had done before the Pledge was to strip the top airbrake markings off as they have bubbled and now taken ages to settle back down. The decalling is done thanks to some homemade decals for the lighter serials. I will give it another couple of coats of Pledge then add the wash and then Dullcote. I have two ferry tanks to add so it looks like the 108 in Motty's Mirage Bible :D . I hope you like it. The original WIP has been re-added in the market place under Ryan Hamilton's conversion request conversations.

Looks the goods! Planning on using this scheme for a twin stick Mirage that Toney has given me. Must crack on with that once I get a couple of helicopters out of my system.
I'm not older than dirt, but I do remember when it was new.

Outstanding Andrew. Love that scheme on the tub.

The HPM 72 scaler appears to be making solid progress and I can't wait to get my hands on some of those... Love your work!

Dave pull your finger out and let's see what you did with my old tub...

AGW..

Looks great Andrew. Will be stunning when you have it finished. I built that kit with the conversion.
Not sure if it was the Red Roo one as it was ages ago. I would like to do an ARDU orange and white one next.
The Heller kit is Ok but undercarriage is a little weak. Perhaps Mr Kittyhawk may do a two seater :) :) :)
I have been collecting ESCI and Italeri Mirages for my fleet. :?
Cheers
Nigel

Thanks guys,

Nigel, I thought of doing the ARDU scheme but there's something about this one that makes it look that little more aggressive than orange and white.....besides I already have an ARDU single. I hope an injection molded two seater that comes out as I love the look of these twin tubs. I would also like to do a Cheetah D too in South African markings

I know Nigel but I don't know if I could be bothered at this stage. It's not on the top of the priority list.

Time for some seats and external detail. Unfortunately, the tail flashes have silvered a little but I'm still happy with the look
