Hey Greg,
Great work on the Cobra's. Love the weathering and exhaust stains.

The HARS (Historical Aircraft Restoration Society) Museum just south of Wollongong has come by two F models (I think, straight cockpit windows), although they won't be ready for display for a long time. There is a rumour that one came with a brand new engine and is planned for flying duties. They are a formidable machine up close.

Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Not brand new but checked and test run. I did a lot of work on these in the early 2000s. We sent the engine to the US for testing and it came back with a Form 8130, allowing us to use it for flight. Unfortunately, it was never preserved as we expected it to be fitted shortly after we got it but the money ran out. I doubt it is usable now (I certainly wouldn't certify it without another inspection by an authorised facility). We had a low-time main transmission ready to fit, almost zero hour main rotor mast and at least one of all other drive components with plenty of life left to run. The rotor blades also had plenty of life but the mains need to go to Kaman for new leading edge protection.

The light green paint you can see on 76-22592 is the primer we used after replacing the lift beam and 90 degree gearbox mounts with the parts from 76-22598. Both aircraft had different structural parts cut in the demil and we swapped out the serviceable bits to make '592 airworthy. '598 will never fly as a result.

Sadly, '592 will never fly now as the Bell rep in Australia is dead against it and CASA aren't keen either. It would need very deep pockets, too. I'd love to do it, though!
