AMP 1/48 Bristol Sycamore RAAF

This is the recently released AMP 1/48 Bristol Sycamore built as an early Australian bird during operations in Woomera. Well this is somewhat of a record for me – a relatively new kit, built almost OOB including kit decals and finished in less than 5 years!

Generally the AMP kit is nicely detailed with options for various versions. The kit includes a small etched fret with finer details. A comment, the plastic is very brittle and some of the smaller parts were broken and subsequently replaced with wire and plastic card.
AMP is to be commended for providing a nice rendition of an important subject and it makes an interesting addition to the collection.

A word of caution, take your time and be patient when assembling, especially around the extensive glazed area. Dry fit and dry fit again. To help with getting the alignment of the various panels, I used five minute araldite epoxy and Tamiya tape which allowed some time to get things in order (relatively - and in the end close enough for me)

Cheers and kind regards,
PJ

That looks fabulous, Peter! Thanks for the tips, too (I have one of these in my stash).

I agree, I really like that model, though have never heard of that chopper before. What era was it from?

What a beautiful model! I have never seen one of these! Must be from the 50's??? What did you use for the NMF?

Thank you all for the kind words gents, appreciated!

Thommo, the scheme I did was an RAAF version from around 1954. The silver finish is Tamiya's gloss Aluminium decanted from the rattle can and airbrushed.
Cheers and regards
