Underside & topside painting well progressed now. The upper olive drab on B17-Fs seemed to come in all shades, and weather in all sorts of strange ways. Luckily there are many good colour videos of the Belle during the war to give me a fair idea of how it weathered, and I added a bit of artistic licence to produce some non-weathered replaced panels and some fading on wing leading edges. I note on the Belle, the olive weathered with a bit of a blueish tinge in some areas.

Thanks mate.

The last part of the paint job is the 'bronze green' camo blotches. I really don't know why they bothered with these they are so sparse and odd, not to mention small & fiddly and muck up a decent paint job IMO. But it had to be done! I used my 'blow up the instructions on the printer, cut, and use as masks' technique for this part.

You can see the ugly blotches very well in this historical pic

That's looking fantastic, even with the ugly blotches.

Painted main markings, came up OK after a couple of little touch-ups.

Gloss coat, decals, panel line pin-wash (Mig enamel brand - very nice to use, but time consuming) & wheels done (wheel struts modified so can be posed in the up position). Decals went on OK with MicroSet and some MicroSol in a few stubborn areas. The camera reveals a little silvering mostly on the tail-fin numbers which can't really be seen with the naked eye.
Next up attack it with oils for exhaust stains.
Something is rattling around loose in the waist-gunners section but I can't see it, and thankfully it does not seem to be something important or visible!

Thanks Ray

Hey, anyone notice that Revell went all PC and replaced the swastikas with German crosses? Fair dinkum, it's an historical model of an actual aircraft, is anyone going to be offended if it's historically accurate, it's hardly promoting fascism :?
