Looks great Brett. Nice to see where you have made all the mods on this kit.

Nice one Brett. I like seeing armour models in particular with all the mods done to them as it's quite apparent with all the different materials used. It'll be a shame to cover it with paint!

That really is looking great. You must be happy with your work to date.

Thanks Lads,

It's a shame about having to paint over all the work done. I think about that when looking at a lot of kits on sites that have the extra detail put into them.
This kit is going smoothly atm. Too smoothly! Going to start the painting this weekend. should have something done at the end of the weekend.

cheers all.

Really lovely so far mate. That's going to look brilliant with a bit of paint over the top! Will you use a metal-etch primer for the shiny bits??

Got the primer done this weekend, Tamiya pink for a change. The a black coat the whole kit. Use the technique used by Eric G. I what some different tone to the plain OD these vehicles had. Weathering helps a lot. But just wanted to try this out to see now it goes on Armour.

The road wheel were the guineapig. Road wheels were a mix of standard OD and replacement bronze green. This mixes it up a bit as well

Re: Aust Cent 1/35 Vietnam 1971 - base coat done

Postby Brett Gibson » Sat Sep 15, 2018 1:21 pm

Base coat is done. Turned out better than I expected. The technique is good of plain colour surfaces to get different shades and depth.
Some of the external fitting were not done. As Aust Cents replacement parts were from painted a gloss green Bronze.

I'm not an armour modeller but I know good work when I see it - looking great, Brett!

Re: Aust Cent 1/35 Vietnam 1971 - Track bashing

Postby Brett Gibson » Sat Dec 29, 2018 2:07 am

Thanks for the pos feedback.
Been away with work. hard to build stuff on a moving platform.

Bit of track bashing happening, with some good results using techniques I have not used before.
Tried the Ultimate burnishing liquid. Very happy with the results.
Wasn’t happy that I was sent two left side tracks. But not really noticeable.
Once the burning was done a bit of mig pigments and pastels were applied. Then some gentle sandpaper, cotton buds and stiff brushes.
Next up is the base.
