Just my opinion, but I think it's a bit too light, but as they were quite glossy see how it looks when it gets a gloss coat

These are quite a bit darker

That's what I was thinking after airbrushed it. It is supposedly the right colour from Humbrol but it looks wrong as is.

I have managed to get up the energy to get back to the Shawnee. I have given it a complete spray of Hu159 and then a couple of coats of varnish, this has darkened it nicely and has taken away my concerns about it being to light and bright. Once the varnish is dried it will be wet and dried a little to smooth it out then decals and weathering will occur.

The instructions are not the greatest when you start decaling the kit as there are some markings I still can't find and they are short a few that they have on the instruction sheet. The Tigers head and acft number are nowhere as large on the tail plane as they have them on the instructions, same for the Army logo.

Rather unimpressed with the decals on this kit. The gray walkways on the top of the fuselage are not the correct size and the black outline of the roof hatches don't match the hatch. The panel lines don't line up and the rivets swap sides of the panel lines so on one half of the kit the rivet holes are on one side and on the other half the flip over to the other so they don't match up when the halves come together.

I ended up slicing the stars and bars then placed it around the undercarriage leg. I then cut the bit around the leg join and it fits perfectly, pity I didn't do this for the other side. :-(

Finally worked up the energy to continue on with the Shawnee. It is now weathered a little with a panel wash but I ran out of matt varnish so I have to get some more. I have also managed to either lose or misplace (put in a safe spot??) a main rotor hub and the side windows so the search continues for those bits.

Looks okay. Pity about the mis-scaled decals and detail.

Really looking the goods now, again pity about the decals, that Star and Bar under the U/C leg can't have been easy

Graeme, I stuffed up by putting the undercarriage on first. I ended up having to try two different methods:
1. tried to prise one of the legs off and put the deal under it. This wasn't that good.
2. Cut the decal in a way that I could slide it around the undercarriage leg. This was the best way to fix up my stuff up.

I hate when I forget where my safe spot is, especially when I know where it was. Still looking for a set of 1/32 Mustang decals.
