1/72 Uncle Les CA23 Interceptor

Postby David E » Thu Jan 12, 2017 12:32 pm

I'm not a big fan of "what ifs", I find too many interesting real aircraft to choose from.

Where it comes to CAC I make an exception, especially if there's a mock up and/or model that I can tell myself I'm replicating.

Uncle Les has churned out a few batches of the CA23, this one is from a good few years ago.

The fuselage is a big chunk of resin, which I drilled out to lighten. Some fettling was required of most joins, and there were a few pin holes to attend to.

I didn't do a good job of fitting the canopy, which required more care than I displayed. When I was almost done I managed to lose the nice white metal undercarriage and had to throw myself on Uncle Les' mercy for a replacement set. Even with the hollowed out fuselage she's a tail sitter so I took the liberty of adding a deployed arrestor hook.

Silver hides no build flaws and I've left plenty on show. It looks ok in the cabinet next to my CA31 so I'm good with that.

I'm not older than dirt, but I do remember when it was new.

Finish looks good from here David,

Ugly looking beast though, looks like part of the nose is missing

Very nice result. Was nice to see it in the flesh before the finish. You've done a masterful job on it. Well done.

AGW..
