Wave 1/72 Macross VF-4

Postby Greg R » Mon Apr 16, 2018 3:02 pm

I know there are a few Macross fans out there and some of you may be eagerly awaiting the new 1/72 Wave VF-4, well save your money people IMHO they are total crap.

I ordered some many moons ago when they were first announced and after many delays (what for I don't know as it certainly wasn't to improve the quality) they finally surfaced a few weeks ago. Wave kits are usually always more expensive than most and these are no exception, being around 2000Y more than the Hasegawa VF-1 kits. Unfortunately price does not guarantee quality. This kit is awful when compared the Hasegawa Macross kit. Parts count is low, parts quality is ho hum, surface detail is amateurish at best, decals are blah, oh and did I mention they cost more ;-) I should have learnt from the horrible Destriods they released a few years ago.

I've thrown up a couple of pics comparing the Hasegawa VF-1 in grey plastic with the Wave VF-4 in white plastic.

I didn't mind mine to be honest - yeah it is lacking the same high standard of surface detail compared to Bandai and Hasegawa, but I have no problems with the low parts count for a change! I haven't tried the Wave decals yet. Hahaha, it's way ahead of some of the Macross Resin I have!
