Floral/Florist's Foam for supporting parts for painting

Postby A30_737_AEW&C » Sat Dec 28, 2013 10:17 am

Sent Mum some flowers for her 79th birthday last month via the florist down the end of the street. Well, clearly the flowers didn't survive until Christmas, but I took a second look at the foam in the small box which the arrangement was presented in. Idea :P

I ducked down to the florist a few days ago to get myself some of this (dry) floral foam, given I was planning to get some modelling and painting done while down in Melbourne for some of the Christmas break. For $4, I was able to get a 'brick' of this foam and it's proved it's utility.

Goggle 'floral foam' and you'll find plenty available online locally if visiting a florist challenges you

Various profiles/sizes are available:

I just read a tip about this in a back issue of FSM this morning. It's a great idea.
