Thanks guys, I think I'll just put a coat of clear over the bottom and see how it goes. I hope with deacals and weathering plus a final matt coat the Tamiya incident will not be too noticeable.

I had a crack at post shading the green and I think it turned out ok. It took AGES to get the colour to suit. I kept adding white but the shade didn't really change. Confused I inspected my white Gunze bottle and found the white pigment solid on the bottom even after LOTS of shaking and banging. Essentially I was simply adding white coloured thinner to my airbrush cup of of my paint pot doh!

I took a Tamiya paint stirrer and mixed it up REALLY well and added to the airbrush and after a couple of adjustments and needing to add more green I finally got the shade correct (I think).

An outdoors shot.

After Post shading (colours are off under the LED lighting) and canopy glued in place

And then I unwrapped

So I think it doesn't look too bad :)

Thanks!

Engine is on and painted and I'm pretty happy with the "blue hue black" that I achieved.

I think I'm ready for a coat or "Pledge" then decals :D

Decals on top done, just underneath to go. It's starting to look more like a Zero now :D

Well the decals are now complete all over. There are two missing on the sheet however. Airfix calls for 4 of the number 12 decal but only provide 2 on the sheet??

Does anybody know the best way to clean up the Micro Sol/Set off the model prior to a gloss coast and weathering?

I've taken some pics outdoors in better lighting. I hope you guys enjoy ;)

Well...for a first model in 20 years I would say you haven't lost your touch. Very nice finish.

Thanks for the kind words John. I must have matured a lot as my last attempt was atrocious!

I've still got weathering and a final matt coat of clear before I'll call her done but I'm happy with how she looks so far. :)
