How to build a cheap and efective paint booth

Postby fjs » Thu Sep 21, 2017 10:29 pm

Hello all, I recently built myself a paint booth for airbrushing my models. This is a guid to how to build a booth however large or small you want.

These are the dimensions of the booth i built. I sketched out my design on CAD to get an idea of what it would look like before i began, and also to figure out how much timber i needed.

I bought a 12mm 1.2 by 1.8m piece of timber and drew out all the parts before cutting them with a circular saw.

There are two main parts to the booth, the first is a fan housing, and the second is the actual boothy thingy part. The fan housing is made up

of six parts. four, 170 by 388mm pieces one with a 102mm hole cut with a hole sore, then two, 400 by 400mm pieces one cut with a hole in the middle for a 250mm fan.

Next, the booth comprises of four parts, they are all eregular shapes so i put the measurments on the picture...if you can read them :?

I used liquid nails and a fixing gun to construct first the fan housing, then the booth, but they needed some encouragement to come together.

I also added a hole on the side of the box for the power lead from the fan.

Next i gave it a lik of paint.

Finally i add all the goodies, i used a high volume fan that i picked up second hand from a renovation, but you can buy them from bunnings for about $20, some LED lighting, and the 100mm ducting adapter.
