Paint rack idea

Postby DesTROYer » Thu Aug 31, 2017 9:11 pm

I've been playing with an idea in my head for some time now that I've finally put to paper and just sent off to a perspex mob for a price on.
I'm sick of all these paint racks that only hold one of each jar of paint and having to keep my spare jars in a box out of site, and though I don't really have the room for one, I'd really like one of the Tamiya paint racks they have at hobby stores, so that when I take a jar out and use it up, not only is the next jar there ready to go, but I can easily see how many i have left. Now I'm not greedy, and don't think I'd need any more than three paint jars of any colour in stock at one time, it dosn't need to be that deep. Anyhow, below is my design just for one tray of 9 rows. I have asked for a price for 6 trays to be made, and stacked vertically with 12mm clearance above each jar, and with a fall from back to front of 10mm.

They would hold the standard Tamiya and Gunze paint jars.

If anyone is interested in getting one made up too, I can let you know a price when I hear back from the company.

Ross French of Defence Models Australia has my designs and will be giving me a price and trying out a prototype over the coming week. I'll keep you updated.

Russ French has come through with the goods. I have received the first six racks and just placed an order for another four. They're not cheep at $44.00 each, but are just what I wanted. Russ is now selling them at his store Defence Models Australia.
