Well having unsuccessfully re rivetted the old girl I decided to paint her anyway to see how she came up with a fresh lick of paint. The replaced rivets are just visible if you look really close and would not recommend these HGW if you want prominent rivet detail. Anyway here's how she now looks

Thanks PJ,

Looks heaps better now than when first built and converted to Military specs. The decals are on but I'll wait until I've given it some weathering and a Dull Cote before posting pics again.

She is comming a long really nice!!! Amazing what a lillte bit of a clean-up and some fresh paint can do for an old model kit. Good job, (I really do like the lillte old tail-dragging C-180)

Appreciate the comments. Look forward to this being done as I'm pleased with how it looks. Seeing Dave's Herc, I just had to show how good these SSM decals go down even over all those rivets.

Calling this done;

Serial: A98-148
Type : Cessna C180E
Based: Australian Army 161 Independent Recon Flight, Luscombe Field, Nui Dat, Vietnam (circa 1967-68)
Scheme:All over Gloss Dark Green with black anti-glare panel and Day-glo Orange wing and tail tips
History: Delivered 30/08/62. Served with Australian Army 161 (Indep) Recce Flight, Vietnam 22/05/68 to 16/12/68. On 30/10/75 this aircraft was sold to the Queensland Police Department and registered as VH-PFM. The aircraft was destroyed in storm at Archerfield Airfield, QLD in 12/80 and it is believed that it was written off.
Kit: Rebuilt Monogram 1/41 Cessna C180 with scratch built seat belts, radio deck, Roden 1/48 Peacemaker wheels, scratch built; upper window, possum whisker aerials and other aerials. Painted with Tamiya Dark Green, Decals from Southern Sky Models.
