Firefly spinner colour

Postby rodenlee » Sat Dec 24, 2016 11:49 am

Hi all and compliments of the season

I am building the Special Hobby 1/48 Firefly AS6 and modelling it on WD884, a picture of which appears in Stewart Wilson's book on page 38. The spinner appears to be lighter than the sky-coloured fuselage and I am hoping someone can enlighten (pardon the pun) me as to its likely colour...

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers
Shaun

Not knowing the photo referenced then seeing the redroo graphics here is a photo taken from 'goofers' by Sandy Sandberg a Firefly Observer in Korean War from HMAS Sydney (later going to Sea Venoms to eject from one at Nowra at night in the circuit ending up OK).

Thanks for your reply and pics Sinbad.
Not sure they shed too much light though.
I will attempt to scan the image in question and see what you think.
Thanks again for your response and my apologies for a tardy acknowledgement
Cheers

Hmmm, those colour photos are the only ones I have of the Korean War era Firefly. All others are greyscale so I have no idea of the colour scheme you have interest for - a scan example would be good. Current warbird Fireflies have a light blue spinner. Authentic? Dunno.
