Shark Mouthed P-40 Western Desert

Postby RayS » Tue Feb 13, 2018 4:43 pm

I just picked up a copy of George Odgers' Pictorial History of the Royal Australian Air Force at a second hand bookshop on the South Coast

While perusing it I came across this picture:

AWM Link

This is the first time I have seen a shark mouth on a RAAF P-40, I am assuming it was with 450SQN?

Is anyone aware of other pictures of this aircraft or any decal sheets that may include this type of mouth on a RAAF P-40?

Looks more like a 112 Sqn P-40B Tomahawk to me. Whilst I should never say never, I have not seen a shark mouth on either a 3 Sqn Tomahawk or 3 and 450 Sqn Kittyhawks.

Thanks Ken, looks like you were right. Its a 112SQN machine GA-F.

Looks like an number of manufacturers have this option available
