Can I make a GB suggestion?

Postby Nav76 » Tue Nov 23, 2010 8:43 pm

Any Monogram kit that contains raised lines in 1/48? I am doing a Dragonfly right now with Daz C joining me with an F-84. Any other takers as the first GB? Or are there other suggestions at all?

Dave Harvey, what is the intention with this page, is it up to us to make suggestions or will you make the decisions for us?

Kev, I am quite happy if there is a consensus on what the group build will be and folks out there in AMI land make the decision. I have found that if I try and get a GB started it doesn't do to well so hopefully a member driven one will succeed.

If there is sufficient momentum to have more than one GB on at a time I can make a section for GBs so they can run concurrently.

I'll join in Kev with your Monogram build as I'm currently doing a Monogram Huey Hog conversion to RAN UH-1B/C specs.

My general understanding, and from what I've seen fom others is that most people genrally build the same kit, or type of kit?

Good to see others are keen. May not be a Dragonfly now, may be something else??? The etch set I just recieved from O/S is not the 48 scale I wanted it to be, so over to something else I think. I believe the Dart, Dagger or Voodoo may get the box seat, we'll see what happens real soon.

Glen,

A GB can have various themes, same kit, same vehicle/aircraft type, same manufacturer or perhaps even event based like the Battle of Britain, Gulf War, even perhaps aircraft used during the Pilot's strike in the late 80s :D

Hey Glen,
HS has had a group build going for months,it is for Airfix kits only,it doesn't matter what you build as long as it is an Airfix kit. What Kev is proposing is in a similar vein, only we are doing the "classic" monogram kits from the '80's,with the main aim to put some FUN back into our modelling without worring to much about AMS.Look at is as a time machine to the days when we would build these kits as kids.Sure they are a bit dated and the fit can be a bit dodgy but they still have a level of detail that is up there with alot of todays "Uber" kits
cheers,
Daz

Yeah all good there Daz.

For me personally, I would only do a specific group build, whih I find more fun and interesting as you have several modelers doing the same kit, and bouncing ideas of each other.

For me, doing a group build such as theabove, is, well, no different from a normal days modelling???
