Yes, it's 1/144 for the Fly/AZ kit.

Scott.

Thanks Scotty.
I look foward to this one. I work very closely with Air Van down here, and would love to have this model sitting in my office :D . Can you perhaps advise when this decal becomes available...that would be great :D .
Thanks mate

So anyone building???

Well here are the pictures so far for my MPC DC-9.

As you can see the fuselage is together and some putty applied.

Image

More putty applied to the seams.

As you may have noticed I have glued the wheel dooors in place and added a tube to take a stand in the fuselage. It was not my original intent. As I was unpacking my kit a heard something drop on the floor. A quick inspection of the sprues showed nothing obvious missing. So I started construction, eventually I found that the offending item was a nose wheel. A search found no sign of it so I decided there and then it would be a wheels up build. Approx 15 minutes later after the glue was well and truely setting onthe doors I finished up for the night. On standing up a felt something under my foot.... Yep the missing nose wheel :(

Wings are together

Image

Bit of a test fit after some sanding

Image

First round of primer...

Image

More puty to come on the cabin windows this time and few seams to tidy.

Image

As you can see, the UC doors are in place and tube glue into place to take the stand.

More to follow....

Next up the DC-9-80 :D

Fuselage together and seams sanded with little fuss. The only issue has been the tail cone which after some priming showed some work was required to fair it in.

Image

Wings together

Image

Another test fit of the wings, I might for the first time paint wings and fuselage separately since the fit is good. I usually glue wings and engines on before paint which means extra masking later on in the build. We will see how it goes.

Image

A coat of primer which revealed the tail cone issue and a couple of other little areas that need attention.

Stay tuned for further updates

Loving what I am seeing there Ray!!!.
I have started work on the Airfix 1:144th RAAF 34SQN VC-9A. She is now equipped with those really cool Contrail after-market JT-8Ds, (I would highly recommend these for either the Airfix or FLY kits). I will post some pix during the week.

Hey Ray,
If you no longer have a need for your Airfix/MPC DC-9 undercarraige units (cause you are now doing "gear up")...could I perhpas buy them off you??? cause I have lost some undercarraige components for my Airfix RAAF C-9A.

I was thinking about $5.00: ($3.00 for parts/labour and $2.00 for postage).
