Well with some early shifts this week I have managed to do some more to the Vampire including reattaching the tails, puttying, sanding, puttying, sanding, Mr Surfacing, sanding and finally some dayglo orange paint. I have just looked at the canopy and unfortunately it has a chip out of the side and a slight crack but the worse thing is it doesn't fit on the fuselage and will have to be worked to get it to. Alternatively, does anyone know if a corrected canopy has been made for the CA Vampire ie Squadron? Anyhoo, here's some pics;

Hack off that idiotic lip on the lower front of the canopy and it will fit.
It worked on mine (A T-22 Sea Vampire)
Wonder who the Einstein was that molded that bit in.

I think I have managed to fix the canopy issue but it still appears slightly too small for the fit to the actual model. I will fit temporarily though. Hopefully Les' canopy is better when fitted. I have painted the seats and test fitted them into the cockpit. The detail is certainly good as is the fit of the bang seats. Here's some more pics;

Don't ya hate when you spray your model and all the faults come to the surface that you think you actually fixed? I sprayed the Vamp last night and here's what has come to light;

Upper surface;
Steps at the wing root, small divets on the nose and air intakes that need refilling and small scratch repairs

Underside;
Some more sanding to remove glue and excess putty

Gotta say though I love this Humbrol 11 Silver for its finish.

Hi Andrew,
Your Vampire is starting to look the goods now, nice job (what orange did you use?)

Looking forward to seeing her finished in Telstar markings.

Cheers and kind regards,

Hi PJ,

Thanks for the comments. I used Humbrol Orange 18 (I think) which is supposed to be an exact colour match for Dayglow orange by all accounts.

With the divets fixed and some panel lines corrected, I have re-sprayed the silver (Humbrol 11) and added the black de-icing strips to the leading edges and sat her on her wheels with wing tanks addedalso. She has been gloss coated and should have some decals added either later tonight or tomorrow. I hope you like the progress.
